Associate membership is for those working in the field of asset management who want to actively progress their knowledge and skills. There are no prerequisites for this membership type. 

Associates can access all the IAM knowledge and publications, attend events, and work towards achieving Member or Fellow membership. 

There is an initial Joining Fee of £30 / US$50 (employees of Corporate Members are exempt from this fee).

Members are those who are actively engaged in the field of asset management, who have studied and have ongoing work experience in key asset management roles. Members can use the post-nominal letters MIAM to reflect their experience and knowledge in their profession.

Members can access all the IAM knowledge and publications, attend events, and work towards achieving Fellow membership. 

There is an initial Joining Fee of £30 / US$50 (employees of Corporate Members are exempt from this fee).

• An IAM Certificate and 24 month’s work experience as a Practitioner or higher in three of the seven Key Roles
• An IAM Diploma and 12 month’s work experience as a Practitioner or higher in three of the seven Key Roles
• Postgraduate degree in Asset Management recognised by the IAM and 12 month’s work experience as a Practitioner or higher in three of the seven Key Roles
• First degree in a relevant subject and 36 month’s work experience as a Practitioner in at least three of the seven Key Roles
• Chartered Member of another relevant professional body and 12 months experience as a Leading Practitioner or 36 month’s work experience as a Practitioner in three of the seven Key Roles
• Seven years work experience as a Practitioner or higher in three of the seven Key Roles, and currently a Leading Practitioner in two of the seven Key Roles

PLUS all Member applications must be supported by a Proposer.

Fellows of the IAM are those working in the field of asset management and whoa re making a positive contribution to the promotion and development of the discipline. Fellows can demonstrate experience in developing new entrants to the field, leadership ad vision, promotion of the benefits of asset management and furthering the objectives of the IAM. Fellows can use the post nominal letters FIAM to reflect their experience and knowledge in their profession. 

Fellows can access all the IAM knowledge and publications and attend events.

• 10 years senior responsibility (Leading Practitioner or higher) in three of the seven Key Roles
• Current superior responsibility as a Principal in two of the seven Key Roles
• Significant knowledge across the remaining five Key Roles where not currently working as a Principal

PLUS participation in an interview, and you may be asked to provide a portfolio of supporting evidence

PLUS all Fellow applications must be supported by TWO Proposers (one Principal and one Leading Practitioner)

Student Members of the IAM must currently be in full or part-time education (or have recently completed education and not yet be employed) and must provide evidence of enrolment and course dates.
Student Membership ends the year after a full or part-time educational programme is completed. Students often have further significant discounts to member events and services and may participate in NxtGenPlus

*If your educational establishment is a Corporate Member, this entitles you to the same discounts as employees of other Corporate Members.

There is an initial Joining Fee of £20 / $35 (Students of Corporate Member establishments are exempt from this fee).
